Protest Questions – Updated (1)

How were the protest occupiers able to install a fully functioning toilet block (in the middle of an intersection) under Police supervision? And how many of us thought the protest was contained within Parliament grounds?

The Wgton City Council has rightly asked the Police for explanations.

Today we learn that a shower block is also likely to be installed. Probably again under Police supervision.

The protesters seem to holding the whip hand on all fronts.

Follow the money. Is the Freedom and Rights Coalition a front organisation for Destiny Church (aka Brian Tamaki)?

Is the Freedom and Rights Coalition a registered charity? Have checked the current register. No references to a Freedom and Rights Coalition.

Follow the money again. Who is making money out of Tee Shirt sales?

Another money question. Is there sufficient funding in the Police budget for a prolonged protest. The budget would be under much less pressure if the protest was halted now, today, 28th Feb 2022.

Who tires of the standoff first? Police, Protesters or Wellingtonians?

Wellington residents made their feelings known again today (28th Feb) with a counter protest. The feeling I have always had is that Wellingtonians generally are fairly patient and tolerant. But I doubt they would be ready to accept a repeat any time soon.

I can understand the position of some people such as the midwife who had a valid and waterproof case for not being vaccinated. Those cases would be few in number and Govt should have provided for them long ago. Those cases should be compensated for and jobs restored to those affected when normalcy resumes. As for the nutters, anarchists and troublemakers I have zero sympathy for them.

 Protest Questions

Why did some parents choose to bring their children to the Wellington protest activity?

Had the protestors ever taken vaccinations of any kind years ago?

Will they recommend commonly available vaccinations for their wider family, children or grandchildren? Vaccinations such as those listed on the Immunisation Schedule. https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/preventative-health-wellness/immunisation/new-zealand-immunisation-schedule

If some protestors were fully Covid vaccinated what was their real point?

If they were against mask wearing would they wear a mask while doing a spray painting job?

Would they wear a mask while mixing up some garden weed killer?

Would they jeer at the surgeon wearing a mask while performing a serious operation on them or their loved ones?

Did any of the protestors benefit directly or indirectly from the job protection measures put in place by Government?

Did any of that funding finance travel to Wellington?

Do the protestors understand and appreciate the heavy lifting done by the rest of the NZ community?

Do the protestors not understand that whichever Government was in power the same basic rules would have applied – without much variation.

Will the protestors stay behind to clean up the mess left on Parliament grounds?

If there were any Green party supporters there, well, let’s lay a guilt trip on them at least.

If any protestors are prosecuted it is hoped that judges will innovate and send protestors to Parliament grounds to assist in the clean-up.

Do the protestors advance their overall cause by casting offensive matter at the Police?

Is there some sort of tag team arrangement where some protestors are performing tactical harassment elsewhere in the Thorndon and inner city areas? Resulting in school closures.

There is a real danger that the protest becomes a fashionable tourist attraction. After all we have seen a number of “celebrities” so called, “visiting” the protest. Sir Russell Coutts (does a knighthood confer instant prestige and status?), Winston Peters, David Seymour (ACT party), Andy Foster (Wellington mayor), Anthony Nansen (Hells Angels Gang leader), along with no doubt many wannabes.

What are some of the other dangers in allowing the protest to fester on? Some loose cannon type protestor could lose the plot. Think in terms of hostage taking, assaults, arson attacks – anything of that nature.

There comes a point where softly, softly will be seen to have run its course. I can understand the Police strategies and tactics which must allow them time to assess the other side’s strengths and weaknesses. Police will have an “end game” ready to apply and we should not expect that to be negotiable.
